FOR MANY, THE IDEA OF SUMMER
elicits daydreams filled with diffuse golden sunlight, warm breezes carrying sweet floral notes, the soothing monotone of bees humming by, and indulgent afternoon naps in a well-padded hammock.

But not for you.

Summer provides you with more time to dig into chamber-music repertoire, fix those nagging technical problems, and connect with others who want to spend their summer holidays contemplating Mozart or Mendelssohn or Bill Monroe. Join an orchestra. Go to summer music camp. Attend a music festival abroad. Perform in a master class. There are all kinds of musical activities to keep you busy and improving as a string player.

Our 2008 Summer Study Guide listings should help you find the perfect level of music activity, whether it’s several intense weeks of study and practice, or a camp that incorporates a little time for pure summer leisure. Enjoy and improve.
